Procedure to Obtain Dual Citizenship in Bangladesh

1. Print three copies of the prescribed application form.
2. Check the instructions and requirements before filling up the forms.
3. Fill up the application forms with the right information. Remember, use dates in Bangladesh format (date/month/full year). Avoid using dates in American format (date/month/full year).
4. Attach the required documents separately with all three sets of application forms.
5. Submit the completed application form sets to the Bangladesh Diplomatic Mission or Consulate Office or the Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. You can also submit to the Bangladesh Consulate or Mission in the nearby country. Check the instructions and conditions on how to submit the applications.
6. Pay the required amount of fee (US $77) to the office of the ‘Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles’ through a Money Order, Official Check, or Cashier Check. Your job ends here.
7. Now the Consulate General of Bangladesh will send your papers to the Security Services Division (SSD), Ministry of Home Affairs in Dhaka, Bangladesh after examining them for a final decision.
8. If SSD is satisfied with everything, they will approve your application and issue a Dual Citizenship Certificate.
9. SSD will dispatch the certificate to the Consulate General of Bangladesh to deliver to the applicant.
10. The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles will inform the applicant through email to collect his/her certificate.
Note: The Security Services Division office in Bangladesh may take longer than expected time to verify and approve your application. So, you have to show patience on the matter.
